Apologetics
Real answers to real objections — grounded in Scripture, creation science, Hebrew and Greek roots, and the full depth of the biblical apologetics tradition. Powered by Dave and the DAVAR research corpus.
What Apologetics Is
Apologetics is the reasoned defense of the Christian faith — not the angry defense, not the dismissive defense, not the culturally desperate defense, but the kind of defense that Peter describes in 1 Peter 3:15: "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."\n\nThe word translated "answer" is apologia in Greek — a legal term for a formal defense. The Christian is supposed to be ready to make a case. Not a conversation-winning performance. A case, made with evidence, with gentleness, and with respect for the person asking.
Five Apologetics Domains
- Creation and Science — the cosmological argument, the fine-tuning argument, the argument from biological information. The created order testifies to a Creator. Dave reasons across the physics, biology, and astronomy data simultaneously.
- Scripture and History — the reliability of the biblical manuscripts, the historical evidence for the resurrection, the archaeology that confirms the biblical record. The Bible is not a legend; it is a document with a verifiable historical footprint.
- The Problem of Evil — the most serious objection to theism, answered from within the Christian worldview. Dave can walk through Plantinga's free will defense, the soul-making theodicy, and the biblical testimony of Job and Romans 8.
- Comparative Religion — why the resurrection distinguishes Christianity from other claims about the divine. The uniqueness of the incarnation, the empty tomb, and the early creedal evidence for the resurrection appearances.
- Moral Epistemology — the argument from objective morality. If moral facts exist (and the objector's indignation reveals that they believe they do), they require grounding. The Christian worldview provides it; secular materialism does not.
Ask Dave Anything
Dave is built from the full DAVAR apologetics corpus — the standard academic works (Plantinga, Craig, Lewis, Chesterton, Alvin Plantinga, N.T. Wright), the creation science literature across young-earth and old-earth positions, the manuscript tradition for the New Testament, and the Hebrew and Greek roots of the biblical text.\n\nAsk him a hard question. He will engage it with the depth it deserves, cite his reasoning from Scripture, and point you toward the text when the text is the answer. He will not oversell certainty where uncertainty exists, and he will not undersell the strength of the case where the case is strong.
The Ground Beneath Apologetics
The strongest apologetic is not an argument. It is a life. A person who has met YHWH — who can say "I was blind, now I see" — is a more compelling witness than any philosophical syllogism. Apologetics serves the proclamation; it does not replace it. The goal is not to win arguments but to remove obstacles so that people can see clearly enough to make a real choice.\n\n"Come now, let us reason together," says YHWH in Isaiah 1:18. The invitation to reason is divine. Apologetics is taking YHWH up on it.
