Apologetics — Top Questions
Honest, scripture-grounded answers to the questions people ask most about the Bible and the faith.
Why Apologetics
To give an answer for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. Apologetics is not about winning arguments; it is about clearing away obstacles so people can meet Christ honestly. Below are common questions, answered briefly. For any of them, you can open the Bible reader to study the passages directly, or ask Dave to walk through them with you.
Questions People Ask
- Is the Bible historically reliable? It is the best-attested set of ancient texts we have, supported by thousands of manuscripts and a broad archaeological record. Christians hold it to be not only reliable history but the inspired Word of God.
- Can faith and science go together? Yes. The conviction here is that creation declares its Maker, and that the study of nature is the study of His handiwork. See the Cathedral of Creation for how the ministry holds Scripture and science together.
- How can a good God allow suffering? Scripture does not flinch from this question; it answers it most fully at the cross, where God enters suffering rather than standing apart from it. It is a question to bring to Him, not only to argue about.
- Are the Gospels trustworthy accounts? They are early, multiply attested, and rooted in eyewitness testimony. The historic Christian conviction is that they faithfully record the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
- Why does the resurrection matter? It is the center of the faith — if Christ is risen, everything changes; if not, the faith is empty. Christians confess that He is risen indeed.
- What about other religions and honest doubt? Doubt is welcome here; it is not the enemy of faith but often the doorway to it. Bring your questions to the Bible, to Dave, and to a faithful local church.
