261. ἀμαθής [μανθάνω] I. unlearned, ignorant, stupid, boorish (v. ἀμαθία), Hdt., etc.; ἀμαθὴς τὴν ἐκείνων ἀμαθίαν stupid with their stupidity, Plat.; ἀμαθέστερον τῶν νόμων ὑπεροψίας παιδεύεσθαι to be educated with too little learning to despise the laws, Thuc.:—adv., ἀμαθῶς ἁμαρτεῖν to err through ignorance, Eur.
