2. to take hold of, τινός Soph., etc.; ὠλέναις θ. τινός to embrace, Eur.
3. to touch, attempt, λόγου γλώσσηι θ. Soph.:—in hostile sense, to attack, θηρός Eur.
II. metaph. of the feelings, to touch, id=Eur.; ψυχῆς, φρενῶν θ. id=Eur.; πολλὰ θιγγάνει πρὸς ἧπαρ reach to the heart, Aesch.
2. to reach, gain, win, τινός Pind., etc.:—Pind. uses it in this sense, as he does ψαύω, c. dat.
