5242. ὑπερέχω epic ὑπειρ-έχω epic imperf. ὑπείρ-εχον aor2 ὑπερ-έσχον poet. -έσχεθον I. to hold one thing over another, τί τινος Il., Ar.; ὑπ. χεῖρά τινος to hold the hand over him, so as to protect, Il., Theogn.; also c. dat. pers., Hom.
2. to have or hold above, ὑπείρεχεν εὐρέας ὤμους he had his broad shoulders above the rest, i. e. over-topped them by the head and shoulders, Il.
