ANNOTA'TION, noun [Latin annotatio, of ad and notatio, a marking, from noto, to mark, or nota, a mark.]1. A remark, note or commentary on some passage of a book, intended to illustrate its meaning; generally used in the plural, as annotations on the scriptures.2.
