Chide, v. i. 1. 1. To utter words of disapprobation and displeasure; to find fault; to contend angrily.
Wherefore the people did chide with Moses. Ex. xvii. 2. 2. 2. To make a clamorous noise; to chafe.
As doth a rock againts the chiding flood. Shak.
