Gride (grīd), v. i. [imp. & p. p. Grided; p. pr. & vb. n. Griding.] [[For gird, properly, to strike with a rod. See Yard a measure, and cf. Grid to strike, sneer.]] To cut with a grating sound; to cut; to penetrate or pierce harshly; as, the griding sword. Milton. That through his thigh the mortal steel did gride. Spenser.
