Gyve (jīv), n. [[Of Celtic origin; cf. W. gefyn, Ir. geibhionn, Gael. geimheal.]] A shackle; especially, one to confine the legs; a fetter. [Written also give.] Like a poor prisoner in his twisted gyves. Shak. With gyves upon his wrist. Hood.
