‖Hy′dro‐the″ca (?), n.; pl. L. Hydrothecæ (#), E. Hydrothecas (#). [[NL., fr. E. hydra + Gr. � a box.]] (Zoöl.) One of the calicles which, in some Hydroidea (Thecaphora), protect the hydrants. See Illust. of Hydroidea, and Campanularian.
