In‐dus″tri‐ous (?), a. [[L. industrius, industriosus: cf. F. industrieux. See Industry.]] 1. 1. Given to industry; characterized by diligence; constantly, regularly, or habitually occupied; busy; assiduous; not slothful or idle; — commonly implying devotion to lawful and useful labor.
