La″ma, n. [[Thibet. blama (pronounced lä″ma) a chief, a high priest.]] In Thibet, Mongolia, etc., a priest or monk of the belief called Lamaism. The Grand Lama, or Dalai Lama [], the supreme pontiff in the lamaistic hierarchy. See Lamaism.
