PARAPHYSIS

‖Pa‐raph″y‐sis (?), n.; pl. Paraphyses (#). [[NL., fr. Gr. παρά beside + � growth.]] (Bot.) A minute jointed filament growing among the archegonia and antheridia of mosses, or with the spore cases, etc., of other flowerless plants.
