PAXILLUS

‖Pax‐il″lus (?), n.; pl. Paxilli (#). [] (Zoöl.) One of a peculiar kind of spines covering the surface of certain starfishes. They are pillarlike, with a flattened summit which is covered with minute spinules or granules. See Illustration in Appendix.
