Pelt, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Pelted; p. pr. & vb. n. Pelting.] [[OE. pelten, pulten, pilten, to thrust, throw, strike; cf. L. pultare, equiv. to pulsare (v. freq. fr. pellere to drive), and E. pulse a beating.]] 1. 1. To strike with something thrown or driven; to assail with pellets or missiles, as, to pelt with stones; pelted with hail.
The chidden billows seem to pelt the clouds. Shak. 2. 2. To throw; to use as a missile.
