PHOSGENE

Phos″gene (?), a. [[Gr. � light + the root of γενέσθαι to be born: cf. F. phosgène.]] (Old Chem.) Producing, or produced by, the action of light; — formerly used specifically to designate a gas now called carbonyl chloride. See Carbonyl.
