POLYCHROITE

Pol″y‐chro‐ite (?), n. [[Poly- + Gr. � color: cf. F. polychroïte.]] (Chem.) The coloring matter of saffron; — formerly so called because of the change of color on treatment with certain acids; — called also crocin, and safranin.
