‖Por′tu‐la″ca (?), n. [] (Bot.) A genus of polypetalous plants; also, any plant of the genus. ☞ Portulaca oleracea is the common purslane. P. grandiflora is a South American herb, widely cultivated for its showy crimson, scarlet, yellow, or white, ephemeral blossoms.
