Reel (rēl), n. [[Gael. righil.]] A lively dance of the Highlanders of Scotland; also, the music to the dance; — often called Scotch reel. Virginia reel, the common name throughout the United States for the old English “country dance,” or contradance (contredanse). Bartlett.
