RUTILE

Ru″tile (rṳ″tĭl), n. [[L. rutilus red, inclining to golden yellow.]] (Min.) A mineral usually of a reddish brown color, and brilliant metallic adamantine luster, occurring in tetragonal crystals. In composition it is titanium dioxide, like octahedrite and brookite.
