SCHIZOGNATHOUS

Schi‐zog″na‐thous (?), a. [[Schizo- + Gr. � the jaw.]] (Zoöl.) Having the maxillo-palatine bones separate from each other and from the vomer, which is pointed in front, as in the gulls, snipes, grouse, and many other birds.
