Scler″o‐base (? or ?), n. [[Gr. σκληρόσ hard + βάσισ base.]] (Zoöl.) The calcareous or hornlike coral forming the central stem or axis of most compound alcyonarians; — called also foot secretion. See Illust. under Gorgoniacea, and Cœnenchyma. — Scler′o‐ba″sic (#), a.
