XANTHININE

Xan″thi‐nine (?), n. [[Gr. ξανθόσ yellow + quinine.]] (Chem.) A complex nitrogenous substance related to urea and uric acid, produced as a white powder; — so called because it forms yellow salts, and because its solution forms a blue fluorescence like quinine.
