Mathematics is not so much invented by humanity as discovered, because the order was already woven into the fabric of what YHWH made. In Proverbs, Wisdom is present when He prepares the heavens and sets a compass upon the deep, when He weighs the waters and gives the sea its decree. We simply notice that the universe is intelligible — that it answers to measure at all — and let that intelligibility lead the mind, gently, toward the One whose understanding is infinite.
