Syn‐an″throse″ (?), n. [[From NL. Synantheræ the Compositæ; Gr. σύν with + � blooming.]] (Chem.) A variety of sugar, isomeric with sucrose, found in the tubers of the Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), in the dahlia, and other Compositæ.
