Sanctum Animals
The living-world catalog for Sanctum of Spiritborn — ~1.8 million species indexed from GBIF taxonomy, cross-referenced with Scripture and the biblical world. This hub explains the archive; it does not render every species as its own page.
The Animal Archive
The Sanctum animal principle: one animal, one base model — not a thousand variants inflated to look like a large catalog. ~1.8 million species are indexed from GBIF taxonomy as reference metadata for world-building and Dave reasoning. There is no per-species SSR route at this scale yet — only this hub, the Creation Atlas lane, and honest proof labels for entries that earn individual work. Biblical animals named in Scripture receive concept development priority.
Proof Labels for Animal Entries
Every claim in the animal archive carries an evidence tier — nothing outruns its proof.
Index means the species is cataloged in the GBIF-backed taxonomy reference (~1.8M rows); no individual wiki page yet.
Canon means the creature is named in Scripture — lion, eagle, serpent, dove, leviathan, behemoth — with verse citations where applicable.
Concept means a Theia A100 concept sheet or visual study exists; art is not claimed as game-ready, GLB-imported, or playable.
Model means a 3D mesh has been generated, reviewed, and passes load/render quality — a separate documented proof pass.
Playable means in-engine with animation, collision, and AI behavior — the highest tier; very few entries qualify today.
Tier keyword search
Filter the platform DB slice by proof tier — type a tier keyword in the search box above (exact match, case-insensitive).
Tier filters: Canon (Scripture-named creatures), Index (GBIF taxonomy row only), Concept, Model, Playable.
Examples:
• /sanctum-wiki-animals/search?q=Canon — all Canon-tier rows in the current DB slice
• /sanctum-wiki-animals/search?q=Index — Index-tier rows only
• /sanctum-wiki-animals/lion — Canon sample slug (lion)
• /sanctum-wiki-animals/eagle — Canon sample slug (eagle)
• /sanctum-wiki-animals/tyrannosaurus-rex — Index sample slug
Name search still works: try lion, eagle, or a scientific name. Tier filters always use the platform DB — no TSV fallback.
Search the Animal Catalog
Type a name (lion, eagle) or a tier keyword (Canon, Index, Concept, Model, Playable) in the box above. Tier filters query the platform DB only.

The Animal Catalog
- ~1.8 million species indexed from GBIF taxonomy — the complete tree of life from Animalia through every family and genus, available as reference metadata, not row-rendered wiki pages.
- Biblical animals first — Lion, Wolf, Lamb, Eagle, Serpent, Ox, Donkey, Dove, Raven, Locust, Leviathan, Behemoth. The creatures Scripture names receive concept development priority.
- Desert fauna of the Near East — Viper, Jackal, Scorpion, Ibex, Oryx, Desert Fox. The ecosystem of the biblical world reconstructed for the Sanctum environment.
- Concept sheets active — visuals for the first animal batch are available for review. No model, GLB, or game-import claimed from a concept sheet alone.
- Fossil connections flagged — where an extant animal has a significant fossil relative, the connection is documented on /sanctum-wiki-fossils for potential Sanctum fossil content.
Concept, Model, and Playable
Concept means visual identity established — silhouette, coloring, distinctive features documented. Model means a 3D mesh has been generated, reviewed, and passes the load/render quality bar. Playable means the model is in-engine with working animation, collision, and AI behavior. Most catalog animals are at Index or Concept stage. A small number are in the Model pipeline. Playable claims require a separate documented proof pass.
Why the Whole Catalog
The animal catalog is not just a game asset list — it is an act of praise. Every species in the living world is a word in YHWH's vocabulary of creation. The Sanctum database catalogs the whole vocabulary, even entries that will never become game assets, because the completeness itself is a form of worship. Dave reasons across the entire catalog in the Creation Atlas; the game is the place where a fraction of it becomes inhabitable.
